MORNING EVERYONE.THIS IS INDEED A PROUD MOMENT.
YOU KNOW, I KNOW IT'S BEEN EIGHT MONTHS AND I GOT A LOT OF CALLS FROM PEOPLE.
WHEN ARE Y'ALL GONNA REOPEN? BUT I THINK WHEN YOU GO INSIDE, YOU HAVEN'T BEEN INSIDE YET, YOU'LL BE VERY PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME.
THIS IS A MUCH NEEDED FACELIFT FOR THIS FACILITY.
IT'S SOMETHING THE COMMUNITY CAN BE A PROUD OF NOW, AND I LOOK FORWARD TO Y'ALL BEING ABLE TO ENJOY IT FOR YEARS TO COME.
THERE'S A LOT OF NEW SPACES FOR PEOPLE TO UTILIZE.
IT TOOK ADVANTAGE OF SOME OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE THE, UH, ACTUAL GATHERING ROOM MUCH NICER THAN IT IS.
SO I'M PROUD TO BE ABLE TO HAVE BUDGETED MONIES FOR THIS FACILITY TODAY.
I WANNA THANK PARISH PRESIDENT CHANG AND HER STAFF, OF COURSE, CHRIS LONI AND, AND ALL THE OTHER STAFF MEMBERS HERE WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN.
RYAN BABCOCK, WHO'S OUR GENERAL SERVICES DIRECTOR, HE GETS ALL THE HEADACHES WHEN THESE THINGS HAPPEN 'CAUSE HE'S THE ONE THAT HAS TO DEAL WITH THE CONTRACTORS TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING HAPPENS THE RIGHT WAY.
BUT IT DID, IT CAME OUT GREAT.
THE BUILDING LOOKS INCREDIBLE.
WE GOT NEW SIGNAGE IN THE FRONT AND NEW PAINTING ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.
NEW FLOORING, KITCHEN, HVAC SYSTEMS. ALL EVERY OF THE ROOMS WERE REDONE, SO IT'S REALLY WONDERFUL.
JEFF CAP AND THESE, THESE COMMUNITY CENTERS ARE OUR WAYS OF ENGAGING WITH THE COMMUNITY, BEING IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS AND OFFERING MANY PROGRAMS SO PEOPLE WOULD NOT HAVE TO COME TO GGB OR YI BUILDING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
SO THINGS LIKE UTILITY ASSISTANCE, EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, NUTRITION, HEALTH SERVICES, THE CIVIC GROUP WILL NOW BE ABLE TO START MEETING HERE.
AND WHAT IS ALSO INCREDIBLE IS IMAGINE A BABY SHOWER HERE OR A BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE.
WE'RE GONNA BE ABLE TO RENT OUT THIS GREAT, GREAT FACILITY.
I JUST SEE THIS AS STEP ONE OF BRINGING BRIDGE CITY BACK.
YOU KNOW, PEOPLE TALK ABOUT HOW CAN WE RESTORE THIS AREA.
IT'S ABOUT BRINGING BUSINESSES AND QUALITY OF LIFE BACK.
I'M VERY HOPEFUL, YOU KNOW, WE'VE HAD A LOT OF NEW IMPROVEMENTS AT AVONDALE SHIPYARDS AND WE GOT LULIN MOVING INTO MARRERO, UH, LAND'S, NEW FAIRFIELD INDUSTRIAL SITE.
SO I THINK ONCE WE GET THE JOBS AND THE ECONOMY BACK, THE REST WILL COME.
THE GROCERY STORES AND THE GAS STATIONS.
I THINK IT'S COMING IN THE NEXT FOUR YEARS.
I THINK YOU'RE GONNA SEE A LOT OF IMPROVEMENTS IN BRIDGE CITY.
